Ten time world champion Oscar De La Hoya may be fighting the biggest fight of his life outside the ring, De La Hoya has checked himself into rehab at a secret US clinic to knockout his substance abuse.

According to TMZ.com, the 38 year old checked into rehab weeks ago.  Yesterday De La Hoya had made a statement provided by TMZ.com

“Like everyone, I have my flaws, and I do not want to be one of those people that is afraid to admit and address those flaws. Throughout my career and my life, I have always met all challenges head-on, and this is no different.  I am confident that with the support of my family and friends, I will become a stronger, healthier person.”

If you have twitter and follow Oscar De La Hoya like I do, I thought his timeline was a bit depressing. There were disturbing tweets on his timeline that had many fans worried. What is another disturbing thought is he is allowed to have twitter in rehab? I’m not sure that’s healthy for Mr. Dela Hoya?

It’s just a matter of time before De La Hoya gets well again. The road to recovery can sometimes last weeks and moths but what matters is that eventually the addiction is taken care of. In the mean time all we can do is pray for a speedy recovery,wish him well and give him his privacy.
